Eriona Hysolli completed her PhD work at Yale University working on derivation and characterization of human induced pluripotent stem cells and the role of micro RNAs during reprogramming. She then went on to do postdoctoral training in George Church’s lab where she published studies on Genomically recoded bacteria - mammalian co- culture systems, multiplex genome engineering approaches for human genome recoding. Furthermore, in his laboratory she derived the first reprogrammed African elephant iPSCs and led the woolly mammoth de-extinction efforts, work that she carried forward at Colossal Biosciences as head of biological sciences. There she led the efforts to de-extinct the woolly mammoth, working on Proboscidean comparative genomics and reference genome assemblies, multiplex editing in embryo for de-extinction, Asian elephant iPSC derivation and stem cell technologies, as well as biobanking efforts for elephant conservation. In 2023, she was selected as one of Time100 Next luminaries for her work on mammoth de-extinction.
John-Clark Levin is research lead for Google AI visionary Ray Kurzweil. At Kurzweil Technologies, he conducts foresight about the roadmap to artificial superintelligence, including focus on applications to the life sciences.
Kathleen is co-founder and CEO at Savor, a start-up working to transform how fats and oils are produced for food. Using carbon-based feedstocks like CH4 and CO2, they create animal-equivalent alternatives that aim to decarbonize the 7% of global greenhouse gas emissions tied to traditional fat and oil production. Their first product, an animal-free butter, is launching this year and is already generating excitement among chefs and food industry leaders.
Dr. Tamsin is an evolutionary biologist known for her original research on baboon social evolution, and a leading author in the field of Biomimicry, innovation inspired by nature. She has provided leading-edge Biomimicry innovation to a global and Fortune 100 clientele for the past 15 years, and is the Founder of TEEM Innovation Group LLC, a company providing developmental tools and experiential education to life-minded leaders.
Reynolds has spent much of her career in two different worlds that both center their business around foresight. Whether working with scientists at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory or strategists at BMW Designworks, she has used design to create new pathways and find untapped opportunities in new and non-traditional places.
Dimitri Deheyn is in the Marine Biology Research Division at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego. Deheyn is a marine biologist who has been studying ecotoxicology for more than six years. Originally from Belgium, he received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees at the Free University of Brussels where he first became involved in research on marine organisms producing bioluminescence.
Dr. Daniel Wangpraseurt is an interdisciplinary marine biologist whose research bridges coral reef science, engineering, and biophysics. He leads the Coral Reef Ecophysiology and Engineering Lab at Scripps and also serves as the co-founder of Hybrid Reef Solutions, a startup that aims to address the need for effective and sustainable solutions to protect coral reefs.
Keolu Fox Ph.D., Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) is an assistant professor at University of California, San Diego. Dr. Fox’s multi-disciplinary research interests include genome sequencing, genome engineering, computational biology, evolutionary genetics, paleogenetics, and Indigenizing biomedical research.
Ying grew up in Las Vegas and discovered her love for plants when she moved from the desert to California. She earned her Ph.D. at Stanford, studying the genomics and physiology of salt and heavy metal tolerant extremophytes. As a postdoc at the Salk Institute, she identified genes related to altering root morphology to engineer bigger, deeper roots that capture carbon for the Harnessing Plants Initiative. She has traveled all around the world observing how plants adapt to extreme environments, and loves weird and wacky plants! Ying is passionate about harnessing the power of Rare Flora to pave the way for a climate-resilient future, where plants, people, and our planet thrive together. Phytomining, an eco-friendly approach, has tremendous potential to revolutionize our impact on the environment.
Dr. Haven Baker is a co-founder of Pairwise, a technology company pioneering the application of gene editing (CRISPR) in plant breeding. Accomplishments include a significant number of technology and research deals with academic and commercial entities including Harvard, Broad Institute, Mass General Hospital, Bayer, and a range of other ag companies.
Most recently, Liz served as the Vice President of Science & Technology at The Good Food Institute. She identifies technological needs in alternative protein and supports research to move the field forward. Liz has a PhD in biological sciences from the University of California San Diego and postdoctoral research experience from the University of Colorado Boulder. She has a decade of academic research experience in synthetic biology, recombinant protein expression, and genetic tools. Liz believes in technology's potential to meet growing food demands sustainably.
Naveen is an intensely curious entrepreneur who is focused on ideas that will push humanity forward. He is the author of the award-winning book Moonshots: Creating a World of Abundance. His current moonshot adventures are Viome and Moon Express. As a serial entrepreneur, he previously founded InfoSpace, Intelius, and TalentWise.
Robert Suarez originates, develops and grows sustainable impact ventures and initiatives in the areas of regenerative ecosystems, circularity and humane tech. After spending two decades working in design and innovation for large corporations, startups and impact partners, Robert knows what truly drives innovative ideas into market - understanding the needs and behaviors of people, systems and planet, leveraging emerging technologies and applying the right business models to scale new solutions.
Alix is a researcher in philosophy of technology and the Director of Curated and Research Content at Singularity. She investigates the societal and cultural impact of exponential technologies. Her current research centres around two large scale projects. The first focus is on the effects of automated decision-making algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, and algorithmic bias.
Dr. Tiffany Vora is a dynamic educator, writer, scientist and entrepreneur. She's Faculty and Vice Chair of Medicine and Digital Biology at Singularity University. Tiffany founded Bayana Science for science communication and co-founded Three Body Labs. She's driven to bridge science with practical insights for society, with degrees in Biology and Chemistry from NYU and a PhD in Molecular Biology from Princeton.
