Juan Miguel Lavista is the General Manager and Lab Director of the Microsoft AI For Good Research Lab, leading a team of data scientists and researchers in AI, Machine Learning and statistical modeling. He drives Microsoft's AI For Good initiatives, including AI For Earth, Humanitarian Action, Accessibility and Health. Juan's pioneering work on sudden infant death syndrome has been published in top journals and covered by global media. With a strong background in data science, he joined Microsoft in 2009, contributing to randomized experiments and Bing's data mining efforts. As the editor of the Microsoft Journal of Applied Research, he shapes the company's data science discipline. Juan also holds degrees in computer science from the Catholic University in Uruguay and a graduate degree in Data Mining and Machine Learning from Johns Hopkins University. He's an experienced speaker, presenting globally at conferences, universities and TEDx events.
