Dr. Nadine Bongaerts is a synthetic biologist and entrepreneur on a mission to harness the power of biology to reimagine industries. She currently empowers biotech organisations, startups and investors to navigate the critical intersection of science, strategy, and regulation through her consulting company Amplicon Advisors.
As the former Chief Innovation Officer at cell based meat company Gourmey, Nadine led the company’s shift from R&D to production, filing the first-in-history application to the European Food Safetly Authority (EFSA) for cultivated meat and setting new standards for the industry.
Nadine holds a Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology from Université Paris Cité/INSERM, where her antibiotic discovery platform was published in Nature Communications. Before that, she studied biotechnology at Delft University of Technology and Leiden University in The Netherlands.
During her academic studies, she became a passionate advocate for science communication and co-founded Science Matters to train researchers in turning complex science into resonating stories. She has shaped global deeptech ecosystems through key roles at Hello Tomorrow and France Deeptech, and now mentors startups while speaking internationally on biotech’s potential to revolutionize food, medicine, and beyond. As a faculty member of Singularity, she challenges leaders to rethink what’s possible at the frontier of synthetic biology.
